Cognitive Behavioural techniques ... a useful tool when working towards change

This course is for people who wish to develop an understanding of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and would like the opportunity to use some of it’s framework in their professional role.

Aim of course:

To highlight the basic principles that underpin Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and introduce some of the key skills and techniques that can be used by practitioners when applying CBT to their work with people.

The course will introduce the participant to a range of practical skills that can be used to develop a more ‘solution focussed’ approach which enables people to re-learn the ways in which they think and behave.

It will focus on particular ‘types’ of issues where CBT can be used to effectively facilitate change, including:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Low self esteem
  • Phobias
  • Eating disorders

The training will seek to develop the participants skills, confidence and resources in demonstrating a Cognitive Behavioural approach within their professional role. It will also provide an opportunity for participants to reflect on their current role and identify ways of using what they have learnt to inform their own working practice.

Target Staff:

The course is recommended for anyone who is currently working directly with people and offer emotional support as part of their role and (or) individuals that may wish to pursue a career within the helping sector.

The Cognitive Behavioural Approach is a very focused approach which may be particularly useful to those working within a short time frame with people.

Course length: Full day (start time flexible)
Number of delegates: Up to 12 (maximum)
