Practitioners Tool Kit … Understanding and managing anger

This course is for people who wish to develop a sound understanding of anger as an emotion and how to manage it once problems occur.

Aim of course:

To explore anger as a key emotion that exists within people and to introduce skills and techniques that may be useful when trying to support people in overcoming their anger problems. The course will pay particular attention to the “tools” practitioners can use when working with children and young people to manage anger.

The course will focus on 4 main topics:

  • Managing anger in the present
  • Preventing anger problems in the future
  • Specific changes to lifestyle that can improve levels of anger
  • Managing anger problems in key relationships (school, home, peers)

The training will seek to develop the participants knowledge and understanding of how people are affected by anger and how people can manage their anger more effectively. It will also provide an opportunity for participants to reflect on their current role and identify ways of using what they have learnt to inform their own working practice.

Target Staff:

The course is recommended for those who are working directly with people who require emotional support and guidance. Staff within Social Services, Young People Services, Education, Health, Offending and Probation, Housing and the Voluntary sector involved in supporting people will find this course of particular use.

Managers who wish to develop their understanding of anger and how it impacts on behaviour may also benefit from this course.

Course length: Full day (start time flexible)
Number of delegates: Up to 12 (maximum)
